Local merchants have taken a big hit from the disturbances this week - not only the broken windows (the extent of which has been much exaggerated), but the lost shopping opportunities. It's said that Seattle shopkeepers urged the mayor to read the riot act to the WTO - get out of town, now! A re-launch of the Chirstmas shopping season is scheduled for Saturday.
Some enterprising merchants have incorporated the WTO into their strategic marketing plans - one in prospect, the other in retrospect.
